Former Minister for Education, Filipe Bole, 81, was honoured with Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF) medal on Friday.

He was among 60 recipients who received the medal from the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote at State House on Friday.

Mr Bole said: “It is a great honour for me to receive this award.

“I never expected it but given to me I do not mind at all.”

The Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF) medal is given to a person for eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Fiji or to humanity at large.

Mr Bole was born on August 23, 1936 and hails from the village of Mualevu on the island of Vanuabalavu in the Lau Group.

Mr Bole said he was happy with the education system in Fiji.

He now spends time reading and be with his family members.
