Don’t Be Complacent: Delana to Student Heads

Assistant Minister for Youth and Sport Iliesa Delana told prefects of the Tacirua Primary School to surpass traits passed on from their past and excel for their future.
“If I can win a gold medal with one leg and also become the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports then anything is possible.”
26 class prefects, eight junior prefects, eight senior prefects and four head prefects. The induction was held on Friday.
Mr Delana said the selection to become prefects and student leaders was not a lottery or by choice.
Newly-inducted headboy, Timoci Vakacabeqoli, 13, of Dagai, Kadavu became the first out of five sibling to become the headboy.
“I am proud of my achievement today which I know will take me far in the future. I am happy to uplift my parents name and make them proud,” Timoci said.
“I had no idea about the headboy induction until just recently and neither did I expect to become headboy because I was in Kadavu and just joined the school last year.”
Headgirl, Mereoni Tinaidamudamu, 13, of Tacirua also was the first of three siblings to become the headgirl.
“I am happy with my achievement today and I know my parents are even happier than I am,” Mereoni said.
“This year I want to give my best for the students and teachers to set an example of a good leader.”
