Farmer Praises Education Vision

A rice farmer in Dreketi has applauded Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for making education accessible for all.
Yad Ram said that if it was not for the free education scheme by the Government, his four children would not be in tertiary institutions today.
Expressing his gratitude to Mr Bainimarama at the consultation programme in Muanidevo, Mr Ram said: “I am very thankful to the Prime Minister for his vision in ensuring that our children have access to education through the education scheme.
“I have four children, two are in medical school, one is at the University of the South Pacific pursuing his degree and one is in secondary school.
“This would not have been possible if it was not for Government’s vision and assistance in the education sector.”
He was among the many who travelled to Muanidevo to witness the commissioning of the $164,000 water main extension project to Naibulu and Muanidevo, solving the communities’ water woes.
Mr Ram applauded Government for continuing to address grave issues that they faced in the past.
The advisory councillor for Malawai, Naibulu and Muanidevo in Dreketi, Ashika Devi said: “This will cater for about 60 households and 300 people in Muanidevo and Naibulu.
“We are grateful for all that the Government has done for our farming communities and addressing our plight.”
The Water Authority of Fiji chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai assured that they had made plans to further extend these mains into other communities in the area.
