More than half a million dollars collected as foreign investment registration fees

Ministry of Economy Permanent Secretary Makereta Konrote thanks Investment Fiji for its efforts
Investment Fiji has handed over a total of $522,500 in Foreign Investment Registration fees to the Ministry of Economy.
This fee was collected from January to July of last year.
Investment Fiji chief executive officer, Godo Mueller- Teut said there were 209 FIRC applications received during the first half of 2016.
This represented a 19 per cent increase in the number of applications received by Investment Fiji compared to the same period in 2015.
“The highest amount of fee was collected in June with a value of more than $107,000. This clearly indicates that Fiji is now truly becoming an ideal and an attractive investment location for foreign investors,” Mr Mueller-Tuet said.
“Major sectors of interest to foreign investors are services, wholesale and retail, tourism and agriculture”, he said.
Ministry of Economy Permanent Secretary Makereta Konrote thanked Investment Fiji for its efforts in enticing foreign investors in the country and having a significant impact on our booming economy.
