Rewa defeated Rakiraki 2-0 in the Vodafone Premier League 2017 at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.

Amani Makoe drew first blood for the “Delta Tigers’ in the 7th minute and Madhwan Gounder extended the lead in the 13th minute.

Techanical advisor Gurjit Singh was happy with the  performance.

“We have been preparing for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League next week and they need game time before the big event,” Singh said.

“Rakiraki gave us a good game but the boys did well in the first half.

“We had a lot of chances in the second spell but we failed to score and we can’t afford to do that during the Champions League.”

The team will depart for Auckland tomorrow where they will be playing a few warm up games.

Rakiraki coach Pragdesh Gounder was happy with the performance in their debut match.

“The players played well in our first Vodafone Premier League game and we will get better.

“We have some young players who are blending in well with the experienced reps.” Edited by Osea Bola
