The Uanitokalau team from Serua Island are looking forward to playing in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s on March 24 to 25 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Formed last year, the club has been taking part in local tournaments like the Island Chill Serua 7s tournament at Thomson Park, Navua last weekend.

Coach Setefano Naitonicagi said for a village team to play against some top teams at the Marist 7s, it would be a big experience for the players.

“Every morning at 4am, we always thank God for his guidance before our training,” Naitonicagi said.

“It’s our normal routine every morning and I always tell the boys to have faith because we will make it if we want to play in the Marist 7s.

“Most of the players are unemployed, but we still manage to pay our registration fee to get the boys exposed.”

The majority of the players will be playing for the first time at the Marist tournament and hope to learn as much as possible.

“This is a big step for us and it’s not about winning, but learning as much as you can,” Naitonicagi said.
