Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said yesterday he would address the alleged theft of yaqona when he visits Taveuni today.

“Like I have said, I do not condone inaction of Police or dirty cops,  that type of reaction to somebody faced with a genuine concern is unacceptable and I will be dealing with that according to the disciplinary processes available to me,” Brigadier General Qiliho said.

He was responding to a yaqona farmer on Taveuni Island who was now desperate for help after his farm continued to be allegedly robbed even after he reported the matter to Taveuni Police.

And Samid Buksh’s attempt to follow up on the filed report was allegedly responded to by a Police officer allegedly swearing at him.

Mr Buksh in a letter said his farm had been robbed at least four times, with the first amounting to 30 yaqona plants.

“I had also given the suspects name and three weeks later, I went to check the progress of the case but the officer there swore at me,” Mr Buksh said in the letter.

He said the officer told him that he did not care if the complainant wrote to his superiors or the Divisional Police Commander Northern.

“My yaqona farm has been robbed three times after the complaint was lodged,” Mr Buksh said.

In an interview with his son Anwar Aslam, he said that they were now trying to chase after the people robbing their farm.
