Investment Fiji CEO, Godo Mueller-Teut has encouraged Chinese investors to invest in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and green energy.

Mr Mueller-Teut met 15 senior business executives delegate from Hong Kong and Shanghai.

“Key interests from the delegation were to find out more on various investment and pro-growth incentives provided by the Fijian Government, potential venture in real estate and tourism businesses, bilateral trade between Hong Kong and mainland China with Fiji,” Mr Mueller- Teut said.

461 investment projects were registered by Chinese citizens or companies from 2011 to 2016. He said the investment trend remained steady with the number of projects registered annually increasing from 25 in 2011 to 172 in 2016.

“During 2016, a total 37 per cent of companies registered service- related businesses and 32 per cent engaged in wholesale and retail activities. Investment Fiji has already created promotional videos in Chinese to assist Chinese investors in understanding the investment climate in Fiji,” he said.
