Three Tongan forwards who will play for the Junior Japan side in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge are aiming for something bigger in their career.

Tevita Tatafu, Faulua Makisi and Fainga Facui arrived with the team yesterday and are eager to face Samoa  A at the ANZ Stadium in Suva, next Friday.

Makisi told SUNsports that they would be using the next few days to prepare against their Pacific rivals.

“Looking forward to the competition and our opponents are preparing very hard and it will be hard against our fellow islanders,” Makisi said.

“Our aim is to win all the games, play hard and make the country proud. That’s all what we need to play for in this competition. We met in Japan three days ago and are looking for more team time here in Fiji.”

Tatafu who made his debut for the side last year is looking forward to the competition.

“I expect the islanders to play hard and it is good to play in this sort of competition,” Tatafu who was born in American Samoa, to Tongan parents before moving to Japan in 2012 said.

“Just like my brothers here, we want to be part of the Japanese team in the next RWC.”

Robust Faciu is confident of a good tournament.

“We expect tough matches and we are looking forward especially to have three Tongan players in the side,” he said.
