The Delainavesi Eagles rugby 7s team are not complaining but are making use of whatever resources they have to prepare for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.

The Lami-based side are currently having problems in finding a ground to train on. Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Eagles manager Apete Koroi said, they don’t have a proper ground to train on therefore it’s just a hill run for the players.

“Right now the issue we are facing is the unavailability of a proper ground in the Delainavesi area for the team to train on,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have hills around our area and we are utilising it to train on every day.”

The team travel to Albert Park in Suva every morning to train. They depart Delainavesi at 4.30am and start their training at 5am.

“This is the only time we see that Albert Park is available to us so this is also a great opportunity for our working players to train before go to work.

“Following our morning session at midday our unemployed players do their hill runs,” Koroi added.

Last year the team made their debut at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and this year they are filling in a young side.

“Our youngest is 17-years-old and this is a very young team with age ranging from 17 to 25.”

The Eagles have paid their registration fees of $600 for the tournament, which is on March 24-25 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
