A Vatukoula miner has alleged a gun shot was fired at his vehicle while he was driving on Wednesday night.

Nazim Khan of Balawa in Tavua that an alleged bullet hole through his back seat window was evidence.

Mr Khan had claimed he had heard the sound of a gunshot seconds before he said the bullet went through the glass.

23-year-old Mr Khan who is a multi-skilled worker at the Vatukoula Gold Mines was driving over the Tavua Bridge when the alleged incident happened.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said reports received showed there was a hole at the back window of Mr Khan’s vehicle.

Ms Naisoro said Mr Khan claimed he had definitely heard the gun shot before the bullet went through his car.

“Our officers are investigation the alleged incident to verify Mr Khan’s claims,” Ms Naisoro said.

Divisional Police Commander West Senior Superintendent of Police Marika Yalimaiwai said he could not divulge any information regarding the investigation but said they were investigating the case.
