Fiji beat Canada in Cup Quarter finals 31-12.
The Vodafone Fijian 7s team are on track to defend the USA 7s title in Las Vegas.
The Osea Kolinisau-led side trounced Canada 31-12 in the Cup quarterfinal clash.
The Vodafone Fijians set the Sam Boyd Stadium alight when Olympic gold medal winning forward Apisai Domolailai ran in two tries as they took a 14-5 lead. But it was the magic of halfback Seremaia Tuwai who scored a classic try to put Fiji on a handy 21-5 lead at halftime.
Head coach Gareth Baber instructed his players to keep throwing the ball around and also tightened up their defence.
The Vodafone Fijians suffered a setback when Tuwai had to leave the field due to a leg injury.
His replacement Waisea Nacuqu through a solo effort scored a try from a kick and chase movement to extend their lead to 26-5.
The Canadians fought back with a converted try to narrow the deficit 26-12.
Right on fulltime a backline move saw Joeli Lutumailagi set-up Samisoni Viriviri to score in the corner leaving the final scores at 31-12.
Fiji will take on New Zealand in the second semi-final at 10.06 am tomorrow .
