Rain, hail or shine the Junior Japan rugby team are adamant of a positive result against Samoa A in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge opener at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on Friday.

Head coach Satoru Endo believes the current weather will not disrupt their game plan against the Samoans.

“The rain or sunny Fiji weather is not a problem for our side but it is to our advantage we are used to this weather and we will play the way we have planned,” he said.

“Samoa will come out strongly but we are prepared for them. We will enjoy the game against Samoa and enjoy the challenge as well.”

The Junior Japan side finished in fourth place last year after they were beaten 44-30 by Tonga A in the playoff.

The Pacific Challenge is always a learning ground for the young Japanese side that have filled in their Under-20 players as the core of the team along with a few university players.

“We just assembled these boys before we came and we just started our preparation here in Fiji. We are positive that we are having a good preparation as a team, building up and putting together a game plan,” he added. The Junior Japan v Samoa A clash kicks-off at 3pm.
