Vatulawa Young Boys Go For Exposure

Another team from the Garden Island of Fiji- Taveuni- have confirmed their participation in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.

The Vatulawa Young Boys rugby 7s team are looking forward to making their debut in the country’s prestigious tournament, which is on March 24-25 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Vatulawa Young Boys 7s manager Anasa Tawake said the tournament would enable their players to get exposure and improve on their rugby skills.

“The team have been preparing for over a month now under the guidance of a former national rep Eparama Lagi,” he said.

“Our aim is for the boys to get the necessary experience and exposure in the rugby arena.”

Tawake said the players are from Navakawau village in Taveuni and they are fielding a young team in the tournament.

“There are a total of 25 young men in our team. We’ve been training at Albert Park and we normally start around 5.30 to 6.30pm in the evening.”

Tawake said they have paid their registration fee and have also secured a sponsor.

“We have paid $600 for the registration.

“We are now sponsored by Globe Energy, which is a newly registered company and is part of Investment Fiji. The company has kindly sponsored our new jerseys and we are thankful for their support,” he added.
