Samoa aims to open an organisation similar to the Fiji Commerce Commission (FCC).

Five representatives from Samoa are in Fiji on a week-long study tour with the aim to learn and absorb the challenges that FCC undergoes.

The team, along with the FCC staff members, visited various organisations in Suva yesterday.

Regulator of Samoa, Unutoa Auelua-Fonoti, said: “We came here to see and absorb the challenges FCC is experiencing and we want to take the information back home.

“We feel that it is good to have information from diverse and different players, people who are into the same interest,” she said.

She added Fiji had similar environment and markets as Samoa, therefore, they were here to learn and implement it back at home.

Chief executive officer for Fiji Commerce Commission, Joel Abraham, said it was a good initiative by the Samoan Government and they were willing to offer assistance in whatever way possible.

“One very important thing that such organisation needs to have, is a good relationship with the stakeholders and partners,” Mr Abraham said.

He said their main objective was to satisfy and meet the needs of consumers and that was very important.
