A man remained admitted at the Nadi Hospital yesterday after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road, smashed onto a fence and tumbled upside.

On Wednesday night, the driver who is understood to be an electrician and a friend were travelling to Namata, Nadroga from Lautoka when the accident occurred.

A passer-by claimed that the driver was speeding.

As a result the vehicle first hit the street light post and then smashed onto the fence of a commercial property before tumbling upside down.

Police cleared the vehicle on Thursday morning.

Recovered from the vehicle was a 40-ounce bottle of gin, a passer-by and a close relative of the driver said.

Police at the scene confirmed that investigations were continuing as it was suspected to be a drink and drive case.
