Hoyt, Rinal Join National Team

New Zealand based- players James Hoyt and Rinal Prasad will join the Vodafone national football squad this Sunday in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers 2018-OFC Stage 3.

Fiji Football Association acting president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy confirmed yesterday that the duo have been called into the national squad by the Fijian coach Christhope Gamel.

“Yes we approached them after watching their games and they have agreed to be part of the national team,” he said.

Reddy said they had some issues with their work commitment but it has been sorted out and they will arrive this weekend.

“They had their work commitments but thanks to Neelesh Ram of Ram’s Cleaning Services and Sachin Dutt of New Zealand Fiji Football Association for assisting in getting their release.”

Hoyt is the son of former Ba and national rep Mudu Hoyt and is no stranger to Fiji Football as he was part of Ba’s campaign during the OFC Champions League a few seasons ago. He is a midfielder and currently plays for Tasman FC in New Zealand while Prasad is a former national U20 and Ba rep who plays for Franklin FC.

Fiji play New Zealand in their opening match on Saturday, March 25, at 1pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
