Airports Team Leads Dengue Fight Campaign

In an effort to help fight dengue fever in the Western Division, Airports Fiji Limited and stakeholders held a clean-up campaign.
The concentrated effort was done in the Nadi International Airport area yesterday.
Manager airport landside operations and customer services, Joe Gray, said: “The initiative of this event is to raise awareness, and precautions, especially on the rise of the dengue that has been an alerted from the Nadi Hospital. It is a concern to us.
“This clean-up campaign is an initiative annual calendar from the Ministry of Health and it is actually in conjunction with the operational firm and is supported by the Airports Fiji Limited for the old stakeholders here at the airport.
“This is the first phase within the terminal; this is a mean of awareness on cleanliness and on the drawing of mosquitoes breeding places.”
Next week they will be phase two, which is the compound and residential areas of AFL.
“We are carrying out internal cleaning up campaign within its various departments within its surroundings,” Mr Gray said.
He said the campaign was a success, especially when stakeholders at Nadi were involved.
“It brings up team-building and awareness. It brings the owners to take care of their work environment. It is something that we would like to make the culture of cleanliness and living hygienically and Appreciating nature and keeping it clean,” he said.
