Singh To Nair: You Don’t Know Anything About Our Constitution

Fiji Public Service Association (FPSA) general secretary Rajeshwar Singh says Damodaran Nair does not know the union constitution and was not qualified to contest his position.
Mr Singh said he was willing to challenge Mr Nair be it in court, at the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or elsewhere.
Mr Singh made the comment following the Annual General Meeting of the union’s Lautoka Branch where close to 200 members attended yesterday.
Mr Nair has created a storm and a war of words with Mr Singh over transparency accusations on the fairness of having only the delegates vote at the elections.
Mr Nair had said all members should vote at the elections and not the ‘selected few’.
“He does not even know the union’s constitution and has not even read it,” a heated Mr Singh said.
Mr Singh said the public should not be misled and he was ready for a fight with Mr Nair.
“Damodaran does not even know what he is talking about.”
“Now he is trying to get elected into an association which has $80 million in assets.”
Mr Singh said Mr Nair was previously terminated by FPSA over some alleged issues while he was an Industrial Officer and was trying to get into FPSA.
“I don’t know why he is being propped up against me.”
“He does not even have the qualifications for the post.”
Mr Singh said he had the full backing of all members who attended the meeting yesterday.
“All of a sudden he is being propped up but I am waiting to see what happens.”
“The Fiji Sun can be sympathetic towards Damodaran but please do not mislead.”
“I know people hate my guts but I want a fight – be fair to me.”
Mr Singh also challenged Mr Nair go to court with his fight to get the general secretary’s post.
The president’s and treasurer’s posts are also being contested, Mr Nair said.
