A youth club in Raiwai was officially launched on Friday night after doing community work from last year.

Kia Sparrow Youth Club President Semiti Cagi said the idea of the youth club came about as a result of trying to develop youths in their neighborhood.

“We are really happy about becoming an organization and our main goals this year is to do more community work in this area,” said Mr Cagi.

He said being able to keep kids away from crime and be swayed by peer pressure in the notorious Suva suburb was the ultimate goal for the formation of the club.

Developing the skills and talents of their members is also a goal.

Mr Cagi said they would be doing visitation to senior citizens around their area as well.

The Kia Sparrow Youth club has about 20 members made up of boy’s with the age range from 8-17.

The club will be touring  to Australia later this year.

They are now officially registered under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The club did a clean-up campaign on Saturday, February 18 which was published by the Fiji Sun the next day.
