Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Mesualme Kunavula aims to make his debut at the Hong Kong Sevens next month.

The Nadroumai, Nadroga, native returned with the team yesterday and aim to work extra hard to impress coach Gareth Baber.

“I will try my best to be named for the Hong Kong-Singapore leg,” Kunavula said.

“There are good forwards to compete with like Apisai Domolailai, Jasa Veremalua, Nemani Nagusa, Kalione Nasoko and Setareki Bituniyata.

“But I will do my best to impress Baber as I would want to play in the Hong Kong tournament.

“I’ve a learned a lot in the Las Vegas-Vancouver leg and I will need to improve and listen to the coach and senior players.”

Baber was impressed with Kunavula and Nasoko.

“Notably the growth of players like Mesulame and Nasoko who have really became the mainstay of the work that we had,” Baber said.

“I am also pleased with Waisea Nacuqu and having people like him and Seremaia Tuwai competing for the halfback position.

“It’s good to see Apisai (Domolailai) back as well and leadership in the group was very much needed.”
