He is the big little man of Vodafone Fijian 7s, pesky for the opponents and the player that every coach wants to have on his team.

Seremaia  ‘Jerry’ Tuiwai that is.

Former New Zealand rugby legend and World Rugby Sevens Series play-by- play commentator, Karl Te Nana singled out him as Fiji’s best performer so far in the series.

“Jerry is certainly the heartbeat of the Fijian side and he is, who he is, because of his pure work ethics and the desire to be at his best at all times.

“Jerry is Fiji’s go to guy”, said Te Nana, while taking a breather at the BC Place Stadium last Sunday

“Fiji has some very talented players, very skillful and they’re a unique bunch but there is something about Jerry, he is a cut above all.

“He is the ‘live wire’, if you will.”

Te Nana says every team on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series circuit would love to have ‘Jerry’ because he is a complete player and one who could well change the game in a heartbeat.

He added ‘Jerry’ and the Fijian side needed to win the Vancouver Sevens and win it all down the stretch if they were to retain the overall HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series title.

“There’s a lot of pressure on the team, this is not to be. After winning the Olympic gold.

Everyone is expecting them to do well”, said Te Nana.

“It’s this expectation that is a worrisome.

“It just takes one win, that one win will definitely motivate the Fijians. They’ve been struggling lately.

“It all comes down to how much the team wants to win the series for its every demanding fans world over”.

Tuiwai and Fiji will now focus their attention to the Happy Valley, sevens Holy Grail, the Hong Kong Sevens scheduled for April.
