Minister for Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola officiated at the inauguration of Dato Sri Professor Dr Tahir as Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Ratu Inoke said this appointment would no doubt further consolidate the Fiji – Indonesian formal diplomatic relationship that started in 1974.

“This relationship continues to grow from strength to strength despite the many challenges over the years,” Ratu Inoke said.

Professor Tahir is a successful business entrepreneur.

This Ratu Inoke said would not only foster more trade and investment in the not-too-distant future, but also heighten our social and cultural exchanges.

“Professor Tahir’s eminent standing and the respect and esteem he commands is not confined to Indonesia as he is well renowned in the United Nations system.

“His reputation as a generous philanthropist amongst other notable achievements has seen enormous benefits in the lives of the poor and the underprivileged,” Ratu Inoke said.
