Western Division Encounters Power Outage

Western Division will experience intermittent power supply today.
This is because the 132kV Vuda Substation and 132kV Vuda to Nadarivatu Transmission Line are under maintenance from 4.00am to 4.00pm. Because of this, the Wailoaloa Hydro Power Station to the Vuda Switchyard would be de-energised.
This would mean that Fiji Electricity Authority would rely on its diesel power stations at Sigatoka, Qeleloa, Nadi and Rakiraki to supply electricity to the Western region on Viti Levu from the Sigatoka district to the Rakiraki district.
This maintenance is to upgrade and replace part of FEA’s system hardware and improve system reliability.
FEA had sought assistance of all its major customers including Hotels and Corporate customers to operate their stand-by Generator to cater for their power requirements today.
Failure of any generating sets, western division customers would experience irregular power supply.
“FEA would do its utmost to ensure that power interruption is kept to a minimum,” says FEA Chief Executive Officer, Hasmukh Patel.
FEA seeks the cooperation of all valued customers in the Western Division, and apologises for the inconvenience
Detail of areas affected by this planned shutdown is advertised in the Fiji Sun today.
