Not a safe fruit to ripen anymore
A taxi driver has been thinking and wishing he was back in the good old days when servicing the other day.
From a village within the greater Suva area, his perception of a carefree village lifestyle that he was raised in has changed a lot.
“Today even our banana plants next to our homes are not safe,” he said.
With the tropical fruit selling for five to $10 dollars a bunch, a whole banana bundle would be raking in close to $100, he said some plants when ripening were not safe and disappeared the next morning.
“The worst part is stalks have been removed from the kitchen while the family is asleep,” he said.
