Chand vows to fight for issues of the north

National Federation Party vice-president Parmod Chand says he has big shoes to fill as the newest Member of Parliament.
He was sworn in as an MP yesterday. Mr Chand replaced suspended former party leader, Roko Tupou Draunidalo.
While delivering his maiden speech, he said that his new role would expect him to live up to the trust of those that elected him.
Being an evangelist, businessman and sugarcane farmer, Mr Chand said he would fight for the issues currently faced by people in the North.
He said proper economic growth would start with the revival of the sugarcane industry in the North.
Mr Chand said the current Parliament would be short as elections are next year. He said leaders need to aspire the environment they lived in.
Mr Chand thanked the National Federation Party for having the confidence in him.
