Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School bagged two gold medals in the first day of Macuata Zone Two athletics competition at Labasa Muslim College yesterday.

Mosese Raione and Amaan Khawaja both hit the tape first in 1500 metres event in the sun junior and junior boys division respectively.

“I am so happy and excited for winning the first event of the zone and also first gold for my school,” Raione said.

The Dreketi, Macuata native said this was the result of training four weeks.

Khawaja, who is also from Dreketi, was proud of his achievement.

“Last year I participated in this same event but unfortunately couldn’t win,”the Year 10 student said.

“After training persistently I managed to win my first gold and I am so excited now that I can go for the Coke Games.”

Ten schools are competing in the Macuata Zone Two which resumes at 9am today.
