Kitione Hopes To Return to Parliament as a Member

Kitione Kumeroa was thankful to be part of the Parliament live sitting on Wednesday.

His educational tour experience allowed him to set his eyes on returning to the prominent institution only this time as a Member of Parliament himself.

“It’s very educational and a good learning experience for me because it has now broadened my knowledge on how Parliament works,” Kitione said.

“I hope to return one day, but this time, as a Member of Parliament.”

He was one of the 16 students of International School Nadi who witnessed the Parliament sitting on Wednesday.

At Parliament they socialised with the staff and asked questions and how to help them better understand how it operates.

Year Six and school headboy Lachlan Swift said the visit was an educational one.

Lachlan said they were privileged to be part of the live Parliament sitting.

He said it was eye-opening.

“We only see live sittings on TV, but now for us to witness what happens in the chamber was really educational and something we are proud to be part of,” he said.

The students marvelled at how members of Parliament debated on issues.

“We see members of Parliament debate on certain issues and it’s interesting to be there to observe how they handle such issues.

“The atmosphere in such a live Parliament sitting is very lively and worth observing and I thank the Parliament staff for giving us this opportunity,” he said.
