Tailevu North College defended their 4×100 metres intermediate girls’ title at the Tailevu Zone on Wednesday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Kelera Buiwai, Taina Ennie, Alisi Nailalai and Adi Fane were over the moon and are now excited about the Coca-Cola Games next month.

“We are so excited about winning, we knew that we could do it and we just prayed and tried our hardest and we won,” Alisi said.

“Defending our title was our number one focus we trained together and we are good friends.

“Our next challenge is the Coke Games and to go up against Adi Cakobau School (ACS) that will be our toughest opponent.

“ACS is a school that have a lot of great athletes and they have set the benchmark for us.

“Everyone wants to do well at the Coke Games, that is where the big schools and top athletes take part and we want to be competitive as well.

“We are all confident and we believe in each other.”

Alisi said they could not have done it without the support from the coaches, parents and students.

“We know that we had a lot of people relying on us to win, that is what pushed us more than anything,” she said.
