The Lautoka Magistrates Court has remanded two men charged in relation to attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

John Oliva King, 21, a chef and Henry Pickering, 19, a mechanic appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara yesterday.

Both are jointly charged with a count each of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, theft and serious assault.

Police Prosecutor, Constable Shalvin Sharma, strictly objected to bail labelling the crimes committed by the accused persons as serious.

It is alleged that both, King and Pickering on March 22, from Simla Lautoka hired a taxi, stabbed the driver of the vehicle and fled with the vehicle.

They also allegedly made off with $120 cash and a mobile phone belonging to the driver.

From Lautoka both accused persons took the vehicle to Sabeto Nadi junction from where they were returning to Lautoka.

On the way, they passed the Lomolomo Police Post.

Upon notice, the Police followed the vehicle and apprehended the suspects at the Saweni Beach Road in Lautoka.

It is also alleged that they bumped into the Police vehicle.

The matter has been adjourned to April 7 for the case to be transferred to the High Court in Lautoka.

No plea was taken.
