Xavier College smashed all opposition in the Ba Secondary Schools Athletics Zone meet yesterday, accumulating 41 gold medals, 26 more than their nearest rival.

The event highlight was the gold medal wins by national athletics rep Shawntell Lockington and her brother Trivet in the high jumps for Xavier College.

Shawntell, 15, also set a new junior high jump record of 1.65 metres, eliminating the 2016 record of Alesi Nai, also of Xavier College of 1.51 metres and her effort also saw her even beat the junior boys record.

Her 14-year-old brother managed 1.60 metres in his jump to come up .04 metres short of the record of 1.64 metres set in 2015 by Esava Botitu of Khalsa College.

In the boys division, Xavier College amassed a total of 25 gold, 17 silver and 11 bronze medals,  Kamil Muslim College second  (7, 11, 11), Khalsa College third (6, 6, 3).

In the girls division, Xavier College won with 16 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze medals, AD Patel College second (11, 4, 8) and KMC third  (5,9, 7). Edited by Osea Bola
