Julie Zahra loss

Despite all the hype surrounding the Julia Zahra concert, it turns out the organisers made a bit of a loss.

This is because the local music talent happened to charge more than the main event.

So basically, Julia Zahra got paid less than the other musicians.

Also the organisers had to pay a 25 per cent tax comprised of the service turnover tax and environment tax. Ms Zahra’s agent told the organisers that they only paid a five per cent tax for her concert in Nouméa, New Caledonia.

The organisers said they would have still made a loss even without the taxes.

Are our musicians going to price such shows out of Fiji?

Where’s the cop car?

Yesterday there was a road accident in Korolevu. Unfortunately, it seems that the officers of the nearby Korolevu Community Police Post could not attend to the accident because the vehicle was with officers of the Sigatoka Police Station.

So the officers from the Sigatoka Police Station had to come to attend to the accident.

Shouldn’t all these areas have their own Police vehicles to police their own areas?

Get your facts about epilepsy right

Parents need to get their facts straight about epilepsy!

International Purple Day, which creates awareness on epilepsy, was marked on Friday. However, a medical consultant has concerns about the mindset of parents.

Some parents have complained to schools, telling teachers not to let their children sit with kids who suffer from epilepsy, because they think the epileptic kids are possessed by ‘evil spirits’.

Seriously parents? In this modern enlightened age, you actually think this proven medical condition is the work of evil spirits?

The medical consultant also said there were cases where the parents of epileptic children sent their kids to schools that cater for kids with special needs or just let them stay at home.

Epilepsy is a chronic disorder, the hallmark of which is recurrent, unprovoked seizures.

Don’t let the younger generations suffer because you don’t know what this common medical condition is.

Earth Hour

Did anyone mark Earth Hour by turning out their lights yesterday? Let’s not forget the environment, people.
