Fijian amateur boxing welterweight champion Winston Hill scored a second round knockout win over Adam Kay of Queensland at Lambert Hall, Suva, last night.

The win saw the Fijians win the series as only two international fights were staged. In an earlier fight in the 75kilogramme saw Apisai Naciqa beat Queensland’s Aaron McQuillan on split points decision.

Queensland official Seru Whippy told SUNsports that six of their boxers had to miss the trip because of the Australian trials that was held this weekend.

“It was unfortunate that one of our clubs that had six boxers who were supposed to be coming over had to pull out in the last minute in order to attend the Australian trials,” he said.

Whippy said they are confident that the Fiji v Queensland clash is going to become an annual event.
