The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) Oldies 7s team defended the Fiji Gold Classics 7s competition for the second year in a row after they beat Army 7-5 in the final yesterday.

“We are truly blessed to win the title again,” said former double international Mesake Navugona.

“The oldies competition in any sevens tournament for the past few years has become a crowd attraction.”

Navugona said the presence of some former national rugby reps in the side had helped them win the competition.

“The former reps include Viliame Satala who is very experienced in playing sevens rugby and he really boosted the morale of our players. It is always good to have a star in the team as he easily connects with the rest of the players.

“We are now looking forward to other upcoming tournaments like like Nawaka 7s where we want to perform better than what we delivered here in Marist,” he added.
