Satala: Be Patient With Our Team

Former national rugby sevens strongman Viliame Satala believes the current Vodafone Fijian 7s team need to implement new strategies in order to maintain possession in the game.
“I think we need to be patient with this new coach because he has being struggling to coach the best sevens rugby team in the world,” he told SUNsports yesterday.
“We should give him credit for his effort towards the team so far and I’m sure he’s trying to come up with a new strategy and structure to better the team’s performance in the upcoming tournaments.
“I believe it is not easy and it will take some time because as from my experience we Fijians take time to blend in with a foreign coach. But if it’s a Fijian coach then the players will be comfortable with him but that shouldn’t be the case now since all we need is good communication between the players and coach. Also, it is always hard for them to implement what is expected of them in terms of the structure of the sport.”
Satala who was dubbed ‘Stretcher’ because of his bone crushing tackles said he was grateful to his team- Water Authority of Fiji- for successfully defending the Fiji Gold Classics title at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.
“I think we did well. We were expecting Army to play a good game and most of them used to play for the Suva clubs before and it feels good to continue playing out there and at the same time maintain our fitness at this age,” he added.
