Army Green 14: (Alosio Waloi 1 try, Sevuloni Lutu 2 con, Kelemete Koroidimuri 1 try)

What happened; CK’s Ezy Buy Tabadamu defended their Fiji Bitter Marist 7s title for three years-in-a- row after defeating Army Green 24-14 in the Cup final last night.

The win was also special for the Ravitaki, Kadavu native playmaker Terio Tamani who was named the New Find of the tournament by Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber.

“I want to thank God for his guidance,”he said.

“I also want to thank veterans Setefano Cakau, Nasoni Roko, Leo Naikasau for always motivating me since I joined the team in 2015.”

The 21-year old scored a try and kicked two conversions

The two sides got off to a strong start with Army Green scoring first through Alosio Waloi which was converted by Sevuloni Lutu.  But Tamani was equalled to the occasion converting his try.

Tabadamu displayed strong physical game as Naikasau bulldozed his way through to score the second try.

Isake Katonibau was sin-binned for throwing the ball away. Tabadamu led 12-7 at halftime.

Army picked up their second yellow card when Kelemete Koroidimuri was penalised for dangerous play.

Tabadamu took advantage as rover Jone Vota scored their third try, converted by Tamani. Army scored their second try through Koroidimuri, converted by Lutu.

But Roko sealed the win with a try in the corner.

Star Turn; Tabadamu forwards laid the platform with a strong display.

Big Play; Former national reps Roko and Cakau led the Tabadamu side well.

Comments;  Tabadamu’s Setefano Cakau; “ Our secret to winning is just the brotherly bond that we have had from the past years. One of our aims was to be in top shape for the tournament.  We have been working hard week in and week out.”

Army last won the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s in 2012.

Team captain Isake Katonibau;

“It was really a tough two days and we were really looking forward for a win. We were tested so I guess the two teams that made it out in the finals were really mentally tough.

“I congratulate Tabadamu for successfully defending the Marist 7s title.
