Nadi Club members yesterday gathered to mark the beginning of a hopeful boost in income generation and membership through a $60,000 investment.

The club launched its newly-renovated and fully-upgraded multipurpose hall at its premises in Nadi Town.

This hall is expected to generate income for the pioneer club in Nadi and its 233 members.

Club president, Navaneeda Goundar, said the hall was a success story of their savings in the past 12 years.

“About 15 years back this club was at the brink of closing down, but with the help of the new committee, we were able to restore it and today is a milestone achievement for us,” Mr Goundar said.

He said the proceeds would be used to further develop the club and help its members.

“Through our savings we were also able to refurbish the interiors of our club and spent at least another $60,000 on that,” Mr Goundar revealed.

The celebration of the members was headlined by the Nadi Town Council chief executive, Peter Dinning, who complimented the club members for the collaborative approach.

Mr Dinning said in order to become a city, Nadi Town needed the support and cooperation of organisations such as the long existing Nadi Club. He  said Nadi was heading in the right direction.

The club was opened in the early 1930s.
