The Pacific Energy Fiji Car Club Awards Night was a success.

Thirty two members were rewarded at the Yue Lai Hotel, Flagstaff on Saturday night.

Club president Raizal Haniff said it was encouraging to see young drivers receiving awards.

“A lot of people showed up and it was a very eventful and enjoyable night,” Haniff said.

“Again Ravin Nath, the champion driver of Fiji took the overall and the fastest time of the year as award.

“We had Roy Singh who took part last year for the first time and he entered the 12 seconds club which was very impressive.

“In future we will have a lot of young drivers winning a lot of categories which is a good thing.

“The awards night is to acknowledge those who have taken the time out to come and compete and grow our sport.”

It has been three months into the New Year and Fiji Car Club still do not have a race track.

Haniff says, they have approached Nanuku Resort to renew their lease.

“All we can do is request them to give us some more time to use the track and have a few more races,” he said.

“We are also looking into buying our own land but that is just a vision for us now.

“It does not happen overnight so we are trying to figure everything out.”
