ANZ yesterday announced renewed commitment to driving its community agenda through staff volunteering and delivery of the bank’s flagship financial literacy programme, Money Minded.

The commitment came as ANZ staff across Fiji ramped up activities in the community under the bank’s month-long ‘Paint Fiji Blue’ initiative.

“We’re committed to the communities in which we operate, and our staff are tremendously passionate about this work,” ANZ Fiji Country Head, Saud Minam said.

Mr Minam explained that all ANZ staff have one paid work day each year to use helping out a local organisation or charity, and are actively encouraged to use their volunteer leave during the year.

In addition to volunteering, ANZ’s accredited MoneyMinded trainers continuously deliver the programme across Fiji, from remote villages to staff of corporate institutions and government departments.

ANZ has also recently delivered MoneyMinded to Fijian seasonal workers preparing to travel abroad, including those departing this month to New Zealand as fruit pickers.

MoneyMinded is a comprehensive suite of financial education resources designed by ANZ to assist adults in building their money management skills, knowledge and confidence.

“Last year ANZ staff volunteer more than 4000 hours in the community and we delivered MoneyMinded to over 500 participants,” Mr Minam added. “We want to increase these numbers and through campaigns such as Paint Fiji Blue, we’re aiming to take our community contribution to the next level.”

Activities being carried out under  ANZ’s Paint Fiji Blue campaign include the refurbishment of the ANZ Ward at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva, establishing a partnership to delivery MoneyMinded to the Housing Assistance and Relief Trust (HART) Fiji community and donation of 2000 rugby balls to schools and villages across Fiji.
