National  7s squad member and Olympian Masivesi Dakuwaqa is optimistic the Vodafone Fijian 7s will end their dry run in the 2016-17 World Sevens Series in Hong Kong next week.

Dakuwaqa missed the cut after Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber named his14 member team on Tuesday.

And as the team jets out today to defend their title in So Kon Po, Dakuwaqa is adamant the Osea Kolinisau-captained team will deliver for Fiji and fans.

“I wish our team the very best next weekend,”Dakuwaqa said.

I want the boys to win So Kon Po to end the winless jinx after six tournaments.

“I’m confident the team will deliver for fans and Fiji and I’m supporting them all the way.  Like all fans, I’m looking forward to the boys in action in So Kon Po.”

Dakuwaqa said the inclusion of Isake ‘Ice’ Katonibau should boost the team.

“Ice inclusion should fire up and boost the team,”Dakuwaqa said.

Fiji plays Japan at 11.54pm on Friday (April 7) and Wales at 5.12pm, New Zealand at 9.12pm on Saturday at (April 8).
