Police intervened and stopped a student brawl at the ANZ National Stadium yesterday.

The fight broke out between some Ratu Sukana Memorial School and John Wesley College students at the Suva Zone One athletics championships.

Witnesses said that the brawl involved students on the concrete embankment.

Police intervened and escorted the students out of the stadium.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Police managed to intervene before any major incident occurred.

“We have created a lot of awareness and if students or anyone is involved in brawls at the game venues we will take the appropriate action,” Ms Naisoro said.

The awareness campaign is a major build-up to the Coke Games from April 20-22.
