The National Nursing Scientific Symposium aims to help nurses to advance in the development of nursing in Fiji.

The theme of the two-day symposium is ‘Overcoming Nursing Challenges in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.’

Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar acknowledged that nursing was the frontline of any health service delivery system. In saying this, Ms Akbar challenged nurses to embrace the targets of health-relevant goals and work towards its achievement.

Director Nursing, Selina Waqa-Ledua said nurses in Fiji have to be licenced to practise and attendance at the symposium guaranteed them an extra 20 points.

She said this would benefit nurses when they wanted to renew their registration this year. The two-day symposium ends today.
