Nasinu Secondary School’s Sakiusa Raiyawa broke two records in the senior boys field events during the Suva Zone One at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

The 18-year-old from Levuka, Ovalau set a new record in the long jump recording 6.75metres. The old record was 6.35m set in 1995. The second record was in triple jump in which he recorded 13.78m. The old record set in 1997 was 13.23m.

“I feel so excited to break two records in the zone this year,” Raiyawa said.

“I was expecting to break the record since I had been training during the off-season since last year.

“Last year I won bronze in the long jump event during the Coca-Cola Games and my aim this year is to win gold in both my events.

“I would like to thank God for giving me the strength to be able to accomplish my goal today and also my parents and coach for their endless support,” Raiyawa said.
