Pauline Vinaka of Ballantine Memorial School broke a three-year-old record in the junior girls long jump event during the Suva Zone One at the ANZ Stadium in Suva, yesterday.

The 15-year-old from Ucunivanua Village, Verata,  Tailevu dedicated her win to her mother.

“I am so excited about breaking the record and I hope I to do better during the Coca-Cola Games next month.

“I would like to dedicate my record breaking achievement to my mother who had always been my greatest inspiration.

“My aim this year is to win gold for my school in long jump event,” Vinaka said.

She broke the junior girls record by jumping a distance of 4.52metres. The old record set in 2014 was 4.48metres.

Results: Officials will release the Suva  Zone One results to the schools today.
