Marist, St Joseph’s On Fire

Marist Brothers High School won the overall boys division while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School dominated the girls’ events of the Suva Zone Two competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

Marist Brothers High School won the overall boys division while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School dominated the girls’ events of the Suva Zone Two competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

In the boys defending champions MBHS won 32 gold medals, 26 silver and 16 bronze while Suva Grammar High School came second with 16 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals. Nabua Secondary School took third place with 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.

In the girl’s division, SJSS took top spot with 23 gold medals, 11 silver and 16 bronze while SGS came second with 11 gold, 13 silver, 12 bronze medals while in third spot was Beqa-Yanuca School with 3 gold medals 6 silver 1 bronze.

They were followed by Gospel High School, with 3 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze medals.

Speaking to SUNsports, MBHS principal Beniamino Salacakau acknowledged the athletes fine performance.

“We are the defending champions and I’m really happy that the boys have defended the title once again.

I would like to thank the efforts put in by the boys in the zone and we are going back to prepare ourselves for the Coke games since we have almost two and a half weeks to better our performance” he added.
