Jope Koroisavou, has reinforced the call by SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka to focus on other ethnic groups and not just the iTaukei.

This was the message by the newly-elected SODELPA Youth president who was appointed with other office bearers yesterday during an annual general meeting at the Fijian Teachers Association hall in Suva.

SODELPA Youth provincial representatives and SODELPA members came in full force to support the AGM.

Mr Koroisavou replaced former president, Peter Waqavonovono, who resigned and is now the vice president of the proposed HOPE Party.

The 31-year-old from Tailevu said the 2018 General Election was their main focus and they would work together to achieve their goal.

SODELPA political analyst, Ben Daveta, withdrew his nomination and recommended the presidency position to Mr Koroisavou.

Mr Daveta said he had worked for the party with Mr Koroisavou since 2014 and believed that he was the right candidate for the position.

Mr Koroisavou thanked youth members for putting their trust in him.

At the event, Mr Rabuka shared his life experiences with the young members of the party and encouraged them to ‘keep going’.

“I accomplished so much during my youth years, therefore what you want to do for Fiji will have to be done in your years as part of the SODELPA youth,” Mr Rabuka said.

He added that the country’s future was built on youths because they were the engine room of nation building.

“You should be ahead of where you are right now, most of you are way ahead, keep going,” Mr Rabuka said.

Mr Rabuka said nation leaders should seek divine guidance to pave the way for them.
