Sevens Players Settle In HK

The Vodafone Fijian 7s team took their time to settle into Hong Kong yesterday.

The Gareth Baber coached-side who are also the defending Hong Kong 7s tournament champions also visited the Hong Kong racecourse to help acclimatise with the weather conditions.

Recalled forward, Isake Katonibau has called on fans to be patient with the team as they try to win their first tournament in the 2016/17 World Sevens Series.

“There is a gap between the fans expectations and the players performance,” he said.

“It has widened and I call it the Tavasa gap. We will try our best to narrow that gap as we give our best and play to the best of our ability. Hopefully we keep our fingers crossed and hope that we will make it.”

Katonibau said it is good to be back in Hong Kong.

“The pressure is always there but again at this level we’ve got to control those emotions especially when we come to the crucial stages of the tournament.”
