TISI Sangam Graduates Were Registered: Waqa-Ledua

All Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam nursing graduates have received their registration because they have met all the standards to be registered, said Director of Nursing Selina Waqa-Ledua.
“Nursing registration is all about meeting the standards of nursing registration. The argument that the TISI Sangam students have not been registered is really an understatement because they have,” Ms Waqa-Ledua said.
Ms Waqa-Ledua was responding to questions from the Fiji Sun after postings on social media that the TISI Sangam graduates had not received their registration.
She said out of 91 graduates from the TISI Sangam School of Nursing only two had failed and did not meet the standards prescribed by the Fiji Nursing Council, which is the regulatory body for nursing practitioners in Fiji.
Ms Waqa-Ledua said that those who failed could re-sit the exams.
“If they have not received their registration, that means they have not met the standards, neither have they passed the registration exams,” she said.
“They had to meet all the standards meaning clinical hours, competency in order to be legitimate to sit for the exams.
“They are though entitled to sit supplementary exams. There are two supplementary exams, so if they fail the first one they can re-sit the second one.”
She said those who had passed would be employed soon.
