Close Wins For Lelean, Nasinu

Lelean Memorial School will battle Nasinu Secondary School in the Under-17 final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League final.

This was after LMS edged out Queen Victoria School 14-12 in the first semifinal clash before NSS pipped Sigatoka Methodist College 22-20 in the second semifinal at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Lelean Memorial U17 coach Ulaiasi Vakatawakoula was grateful for the win as he now turns his focus to the final.

“It was one of the best games the boys have played so far and there were a lot of expectations since we were playing on our home ground,” he said.

“I dedicate our victory today to all our supporters especially to the parents, old scholars and the Methodist Church of Fiji for their support.

“The match against QVS was tough and now we are looking forward to the final against Nasinu.”

Nasinu Secondary U17 manager John Lum Kon said he was happy that they have qualified for the final.

“There is still room for improvement. It was an exciting game for us and Sigatoka Methodist was a hard team to play against. I’m thankful that the boys maintained possession throughout the game. There are lots of things for the side to work on before the final. We will waste no time to start with our preparations.”

The final will be again played at Ratu Cakobau Park next Saturday.
