Doc: Start Of A New Olympic Cycle

Oceania National Olympic Committees president Dr Robin Mitchell commended the support and efforts put in by the various National Olympic Committees.

Mitchell praised the hard work put in for another successful week-long ONOC annual general assembly which ended at the Sofitel Resort and Spa in Nadi yesterday.

“It’s been a very good general assembly there was a lot of things covered,” he said.

“The Olympic solidarity team came from Lausanne provided useful background information that was available in the Olympic committee.

“This information will be useful in the beginning of a new Olympic cycle.

“We also had a good election where a new woman was elected for the vice-president’s post.

“This is first for the Oceania.”

Mitchell looks forward to another new Olympic cycle with his committee.

“We have a group of experienced administrators and senior people from the Olympic committee and 42 per cent of them are women.

“Interesting times are ahead of us,” he added.
